Meet Dr. Mark R. Maher.

Tinker Dentist Soldier Guy.

Borrowing from the John le Carre title, Dr. Maher is a tinker, dentist, soldier, and guy — a clinician shaped by technical training, military service, and a wide range of interests outside the office.

Tinker

Dr. Maher holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Brigham Young University, where he studied composite materials, computer-aided design and manufacture (CAD/CAM), mechatronics, and fluid mechanics. That technical background shows up in his use of digital dentistry, precise planning, and durable restorative materials.

Dentist

From BYU, Dr. Maher returned to his native California to pursue his DDS degree from the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco. He is a certified CEREC^® provider for same-day crowns and a certified Invisalign^® provider for clear aligner orthodontics.

Soldier

After completing his formal dentistry training, Dr. Maher began his dentistry residency with the U.S. Army at Fort Benning, Georgia. There, he was awarded a one-on-one mentorship with distinguished specialists in oral surgery, periodontics, prosthodontics, orthodontics, endodontics, pediatric dentistry, and general restorative dentistry.

While at Fort Benning, Dr. Maher was certified in Airborne School, where he learned to jump out of airplanes before he and his family were transferred to Hawaii. He later shipped out from Schofield Barracks in Hawaii to Iraq for Operation Iraqi Freedom, serving as Brigade Dental Surgeon from August 2006 to 2007. In Iraq, he was the sole provider of comprehensive dental care for more than 5,000 U.S. coalition service personnel and civilians.

Guy

Dr. Maher is fluent in French and enjoys skiing, cycling, spending time with his family, and tinkering with cars.

He applies a blend of artistic and technical skill to produce durable, aesthetic results.

Dr. Maher stays dedicated to lifelong learning through continuing education courses, with a focus on innovative, minimally invasive procedures that support conservative care.

Dr. Maher is licensed by the Dental Board of California and is a member of the American Dental Association, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and California Dental Association.
